Let’s Go Together

Qatar Airways × RCB 2023

A sponsorship announcement can establish a partnership in seconds. Making that partnership feel like a film takes a little more thought.

“Let’s Go Together” introduced the relationship between Qatar Airways and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The production featured Virat Kohli and five other RCB players, with filming in India in collaboration with local resources.

More than a line-up

An ensemble of recognised athletes brings immediate attention. The creative responsibility is to give that attention somewhere to go. Each appearance needs to contribute to the campaign rather than function as a separate confirmation that another player was on set.

The airline and the team also arrive with different associations. One is connected to travel and the other to a sporting community. The work has to allow both to remain recognisable while presenting their relationship as a coherent proposition.

From a social brief to television

The project began as social content and developed into a global television campaign for cricket-following markets. That change is an important part of its story. An idea that starts in one format may have a wider application, but the finished work still needs to make sense to the audience encountering it in each setting.

For me, this is why platform and delivery conversations belong near the beginning of a commercial. A compact idea can travel well when its structure is clear. It becomes more difficult when the production has captured only one very specific use of it.

The completed film connects the sponsorship to the people who make the team recognisable. The scale of its distribution changed; the central job remained the same: make the partnership feel immediate to the audience it was intended to reach.
